Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics

Building Arts and Ceramics Museum was built in 1870. Initially used as the Dutch judiciary or Read Van Justitie, then during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia's struggle for independence and the building was used as a military barracks. Subsequently in 1967 used as West Jakarta Mayor's office. In 1986 used as an office and the Department of History Museum Jakarta until 1975. 
 On August 20, 1976 was inaugurated as the Arts Center building and is now renamed the Museum of Fine Arts and CeramicsMuseum of Fine Arts and CeramicsCollection of Fine ArtsThe museum has about 400 works of Fine Arts consists of different materials and different techniques such as sculpture, graphic, wood totem, sketch, and batik painting.

Among these collections there are some excellent and very important collection for the history of art in Indonesia, including painting, titled "Bride Cianjur" by Hendra Gunawan, painting "Regent Cianjur" by Raden Saleh, a painting "Breastfeeding" by Dullah, painting " Laskar Tritura "The work of S. Sudjojono and painting "Portrait of himself" by Affandi.


Characterized by traditional classical statue from Bali, wooden totem magical and symbolic works of Tjokot and his extended family, Totem and wood sculptures of modern artists, among others, G. Sidhartha, Oesman Effendi. Followed by the works of an artist's creation of academic graduates, for example, Popo Iskandar Achmad Sadali, Srihadi S, Fajkar Sidik, Kusnadi, Rush, Nashar, Zaini, Amang Rahman, Suprapto, Irsan, Mulyadi W, Abas Alibasyah, Amri Yahya, AS Budiman, Barli , Sudjana Kerton and many other artists from various regions.


Ceramic collections in this museum is quite a lot, consisting of local and foreign ceramic tiles. Local ceramics originated from the region of Aceh, Medan, Palembang, Lampung, Jakarta, Bandung. Purwakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Lombok and others. This museum also has ceramics from the 14th century Majapahit, which shows characteristics and features a beautiful and valuable history that has the diversity of shapes and functions.


Foreign ceramics include a variety of shapes, features, characteristics, function and style come among others from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Holland, Germany, the Middle East. Most of China especially during the Ming and Ching Dynasty.
